As a Church of England school there is a greater focus on the teaching of Christianity. Approximately two thirds of our Religious Education curriculum is based on the Christian faith as a living religion.
We aim to support pupils in developing their understanding of Christianity, as a contribution to their understanding of the world and their own experience within it. We do this by integrating pupils’ developing understanding of significant theological concepts within Christianity with their own self understanding and understanding of the world, as part of their wider religious literacy.
We use ‘Understanding Christianity’ and ‘The Emmanuel Project’ as our primary resources which we integrate into our thematic approach to teaching and learning to ensure our pupils experience a rich and diverse variety of opportunities to explore faith and religious tradition within our creative and stimulating curriculum.
